Instagram is a funny thing. I like it. I look at it. I post on it, but it's a pretty warped version of life. Sometimes I am lucky enough to visit places that inspire me to take photographs. And Instagram is where I can share those photos. But if you think you can get an idea of what my life is like by looking through my page, you're sure to be misled. Adventure photography is a big part of what I love but a relatively small portion of my life. And I know I am not saying anything new or profound here but it's an important thing for me to keep in mind. This app makes it easy to forget the flip side of the coin. For every day I have in a beautiful location, I have 100 at home or at a job or in line at the DMV or WHATEVER. And if I start counting my days as good when I am "getting the shot", and boring or a waste when I'm doing everything else, I find myself on a slippery slope. So I guess the moral of my rambling is; enjoy it. Whatever it is. Cause that's all there is.

This is a photo from the first time @codykucich @spudd86 and myself had ever climbed mixed snow and rock with crampons on. It was late in the season and new snow had already started to fall. But despite our giant packs and limited experience we made it up with smiles the entire time. Arête des cosmiques was a really fun intro to alpine. Complete with a hut to sleep in and a gondola back into town. Chamonix really gets you right into the mix of big mountains. Hopefully someday I'll get to visit again 🇫🇷

The other day I was going through my old photos and I accidentally deleted one my all time favorites. Thankfully it was just in my trash folder and easy enough to retrieve but as I was going through the trash I found this photo. Happy to have it back in my life so I thought I'd share it. It's from two summers ago in Iceland. I trip I won't soon forget.

I got to spend the last week down in Arizona with my girlfriend and her family. I talked her dad into climbing up superstition mountain with me and boy were we both glad we did. Such a beautiful area and so different from what I am used to. This photo was taken near the bottom looking up the valley that leads to the summit. From the car to this point was mellow and uninteresting but from here to the top was the total opposite

Got out with the boys on Monday for some volcano action and hero corn. Skied all the way back to the car. What a fun day. 📷: @mitchpittman
