Since 1979, Fraenkel Gallery has presented almost 300 exhibitions exploring photography and its relation to other arts.
While the "American Mystic" exhibition closes May 6, the catalog is forever. Photographs from the show are accompanied by art historian Alexander Nemerov's short lyrical prose, written in the style of John Szarkowski's 1973 book, "Looking at Photographs." The catalog is available for purchase in the gallery and through our website.

"When [Winogrand] died suddenly at age 56 in 1984, Winogrand left behind more than 10,000 rolls of film – more than a quarter of a million pictures! These images, as well as hours of never before seen 8mm films, capture a bygone era: the New York of Mad Men and the early years of the Women’s Movement, the birth of American suburbs, and the glamour and alienation of Hollywood." We are pleased to announce our support for the film project, "Garry Winogrand: All Things are Photographable." The Kickstarter is live until April 10, 2017!

Elisheva Biernoff takes NY at @the_adaa! Her snapshot paintings are simulated artifacts, remade to scale as truly as possible. To create this work, the artist finds photographs of domestic scenes and anonymous people. Stop by our booth #A16 at The Art Show to see these beautiful and unusual miniatures. 📷: Elisheva Biernoff, "Vision," (2016); acrylic on 1/32 inch plywood, painted on both sides on homemade poplar stand
