Gorgeous gorgonian (sea fan) clinging to one of the wall drop offs on Holmes Reef. Have a wonderful weekend all! ************************************************ Canon 5D Mk2, 16mm, ISO 400, 1/125 sec @ f8, Aquatica u/w housing. ************************************************ pic

Close-up with a grey whaler shark and it's little remora friend... had been hanging out to dive with the resident sharks of Holmes Reef. While they may look kinda menacing, these beauties are actually very timid. Check out the Instastory for some clips from the shark dive. ************************************************ Canon 5D Mk2, 16mm, ISO 400, 1/160 sec @ f9, Aquatica u/w housing. ************************************************

Heading into the blue!... Have had an IG mini-break as have spent a few days diving with out at Holmes Reef in the Coral Sea... it's a remote area, out beyond the Great Barrier Reef, with big drop offs and amazing underwater visibility. Good morning all! ************************************************ Canon 5D Mk2, 16mm, ISO 400, 1/320 sec @ f11, Aquatica u/w housing. ************************************************ pic

Good morning all! Bit of a wet and grey one in the north today, so I thought I'd throw back to wet season at the Devil's Pool - a beautiful, but treacherous spot at the base of Mt Bartle Frere. ************************************************ Canon 5D Mk3, 34mm, ISO 50, 1.6 sec @ f16. ************************************************

"Battlestar Galactica"... is what I was thinking when I shot this, but I'm not so sure cannons from a 19th century fort would be part of a futuristic battle. Anyway, I loved the way the Milky Way looked above the guns of Green Hill Fort which sits on the top of Thursday Island, in the most northern regions of Queensland. ************************************************ Canon 5D Mk3, 16mm ISO 4000, 20 sec @ f2.8. ************************************************

So I was up in the Torres Strait Islands at the end of last week for my "day job", which is mainly commercial photography. The islands sit at the very northern tip of Queensland... some just off the Australian mainland and others, a stone's throw from Papua New Guinea. In my downtime I headed from Thursday Island over to Friday Island, which is home to the last bastion of pearl farming in the Torres Strait - Kazu Pearls. There's this amazing floating wooden jetty which wobbles and sways as you cross the island's turquoise waters. The pearl shells are grown in baskets slung from the end of the jetty, in the strong tidal currents that flow through the island passageways. And they do a beautiful Japanese-style lunch here as part of a visit to the pearl farm. ************************************************ Canon 5D Mk3. 26mm, ISO 400, 1/200 sec @ f11. ************************************************

One of my favourite pics from Lady Elliot Island, though please excuse my knobbly feet!😝... Feeding time at the Fish Pond, with these Sergeant Major Damsel Fish looking like that they could almost go my toes! Have a great week everyone!
