✨FUNCTIONAL HAMSTRING FLEXIBILITY✨ Continuing on with some active hamstring flexibility today! If you missed the beginning steps from yesterday's video, check back! Today, I'm showing the active progressions that highly translate to running, squats and jumping. I utilize many techniques taught by with isometric holds into the stretch and into the closed joint to ultimately be able to not only increase range, but maintain strength through end range of motion 👊 Hamstrings attach from the pelvis to the lower leg. So, active range must be able to be maintained with a straight leg (less hip range & longer lever arm - harder 💪) but also with a bent leg to increase the stretch at the base of the hip (more hip range & shorter lever arm). The other brilliant thing about these exercises?! They translate to proper motor control with running, walking, jumping! We don't want to just squeeze into the hip flexor or quad to hold end range of motion, but when you squeeze through the supporting leg to emphasize the lift of the front leg, we start to teach the brain how to press through the ground to gain power through the lifting leg! I am asked almost daily if yoga is the only "workout" I do ..... and I always answer, yes yoga is my preferred way to bring strength, movement and awareness into my physical body, but I also dance around and take long walks with Loki. I don't consider yoga a workout, it's more of a work"in" ☺️✨🙏🏼 And sometimes I do like to mix it up and throw some non-traditional elements into my practice, such as some 🍑🍑🍑 werk! A nationally renowned poet, activist, immigrant, and a black queer single mother, Staceyann Chin shares her experience of coming into herself and her identity, when her surroundings were anything but accepting. In this episode of , Chin goes into the trauma that led her to pursue a life in which she will never be silenced again. “I think I was not just undone by the thing itself happening, I was also undone by the fact that I did not fight back, and that I didn’t respond in a way that was fierce and feminist and loud and unapologetic … and maybe it was then that I decided I would never be silent again about something that was happening to me,” she shares in the episode. Chinn’s first stirrings of activism centered around her lesbian identity, and once she came to the U.S., it was followed by her identity as a Jamaican immigrant. I've been conscious lately of everyone's least favorite thing about eating: portion control. Why must we limit the amount of delicious food we eat even when it's healthy?? I was conflicted mostly bc I love using a bunch of different elements in my dishes, one, for a variety of nutrients, and two, bc it makes the plate so much more beautiful and fun to look at! I decided this morning it was important, if I want to sustain the most optimal state of health, to focus a bit more on fixing smaller plates. This totally gave me a boost of confidence in my ability to do that while also having fun with the plate. Less can be more! These cute lil sun bathing egg buddies mad me sooo happy this morning. 014. Split foot Cat-Pass Progression 1. Back on the cat passes today. Now we are working on starting the split foot take-off. Same as the original standing Cat-Pass, but with feet split apart. 1⃣ Make sure you reset your feet back to the same position every time. Stability-mobility series part 3 of 7 . Очень часто причиной в плече, при поднятии руки (плечевой кости) выше горизонтального положения, т.н "оверхэд", является плохая стабильность лопатки. . Устойчивость лопатки имеет большое значение, при движениях рук над головой (метания, броски,вертикальные жимы,толчки и.т.д) и её недостаток может вызывать болевые ощущения и даже травмы (разрыв суставной губы, импинджмент синдром и.т.д) . Главными стабилизаторами лопатки в позиции,когда руки находятся над головой являются: - Нижняя порция трапеции; - Ромбовидные мышцы; - Передняя зубчатая. . Упражнения которые помогут улучшить стабильность лопатки : 1. Вертикальная тяга резиновой ленты 2. TYW 3. "АНГЕЛ" . Ключевые моменты 🔑: 📌 торс напряжен,поясница не прогибается; 📌движение производится за счёт лопаток. . Делать по 2-3 подхода 8-15 повторений. ----------------------------------- Shoulder pain sometimes may be caused by poor scapula stability. Scapula is big player especially in overhead movements such as throwing, pushing etc. . Main scapula stabilizers in overhead movements are: - Lower trapezius - Romboids - Serratus anterior . My favorite exercises to work on scapula stability are: 1. Vertical pull 2. TYW 3. Angels . Key points 🔑: -keep your core engaged during the whole movement -movement is made primarily by the scapula . Do 2-3 sets of 8-15 reps
