Swipe to explore a portion of a 360º mosaic from the Mastcam on our Curiosity Mars rover made from 115 individual images taken on March 24 and 25, 2017, during the 1,647th Martian day, or sol, of Curiosity's work on Mars. This image looks out over a portion of the Bagnold Dunes, which stretch for several miles. From early February to early April 2017, the rover examined four sites near linear dunes for comparison with what it found in late 2015 and early 2016 during its investigation of crescent-shaped dunes. This two-phase campaign is the first close-up study of active dunes anywhere other than Earth. Among the questions this Martian dune campaign is addressing is how winds shape the dunes into different patterns. Others include whether Martian winds sort grains of sand in ways that affect the distribution of mineral compositions, which also would have implications for studies of Martian sandstones. This mosaic is white-balanced so that the colors of the colors of the rock and sand materials resemble how they would appear under daytime lighting conditions on Earth. This golf ball sized piece of iron-nickel meteorite was named "Egg Rock". These types of meteorites are quite common on Earth. If you look closely, you may be able to see the shiny grid patterns that Curiosity's instrument zapped into it with its laser for element confirmation. This photo was taken with Curiosity's on Sol 1535 (2016-11-30) and was color balanced to look as it would in daytime lighting on Earth. Instagram contrast enhanced photo.

Curiosity has begun its months-long trek up a mudstone rock outcrop at the base of Mount Sharp ( ). As climbs higher, younger geological evidence is available for analysis to learn more about how ancient environmental conditions evolved from available freshwater to conditions less favorable toward life. Листайте влево 👈 Дожили.. 🙄 Это фотки Марса. это планета Солнечной системы... А это фотографии его поверхности.. У меня в голове не укладывается то, что это вообще возможно! Укладывается не укладывается, но реально уже 1,647 дней по его поверхности ползает !
