WeWork Weihai Lu

At first glance, #WeWork Weihai Lu appears to be a turn-of-the-century building in the heart of Shanghai's Jing'An district. But inside, as @dezeen points out, we overhauled the space to create a grand, open-concept workspace that references the building's history as an opium factory, and later, an artist's residence. From the entrance (an old laneway framed by a traditional Chinese arch) to the hand-painted gold poppy printed wallpaper (a reference to the opium factory), every detail is tailored to blend old and new.
